Hankyung presented her full paper titled “Investigating How Users Design Everyday Intelligent Systems in Use” at the DIS 2023 conference. This work conducted an interview study to explore end-user practices that aimed to achieve their own desired experiences in everyday intelligent systems. The study revealed three styles of end-user design of their experiences: teaching, resisting, and repurposing. Based on the findings, the paper discussed the design implications of our findings, recognizing end-users’ motivation to challenge a prescribed experience of an intelligent system.
